First I would like to take some time to thank all legionairs and all other vets for their service and for all our freedoms and for my membership into this great organization we call The Sons Of The American Legion...
At this time I would like to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is James Newby Jr, I am a member of Bayonne Squadron 19 Sons Of The American Legion through my father James Newby Sr whos eligibility into the American Legion, was through his service as a Seabee in the United States Navy (construction battalion)Vietnam. He himself also was a duel member and his eligibility was through his fathers service as a member of the US Army (WWII)
I am honored to be serving the detachment as Sgt at Arms for the first time and I am hoping for a very successful year with the Detachment. This year Carl Albern has asked me to chair the Color Guard committee for the administrative year of 2014-2015 to which I agreed...
It is a honor and a privilege to be the chairman for this committee but most importantly to be working with my fellow Sgt at arms and Asst. Sgt at Arms on this committee. We look forward to carrying the Detachment colors with honor and pride as well as making New Jersey proud of its Sons of The American Legion.
This years color guard's first detail was at High Point for the yearly memorial service. It was privilege to have my fellow Sgt's at Arms and Asst Sgt's at Arms working with me on this day.
The second detail for the detachment color guard was at the yearly POW/MIA Watch Fire where we stood beach side during the vigil...
(At this time I would also like to give a special thanks to Detachment Vice Commander Thomas Flaherty, Jay Kernan(282) and Dean Statnis for their assistance in filling in the color guard)
