Sons of The American Legion
Detachment of New Jersey
Ernie Wilson, Jr. Memorial Scholarship
It is my privilege as a semi-retired NJ educator to chair this committee. I received my B.A. at Rutgers University and my M.A. at Georgian Court in Educational Administration, Supervision, and Curriculum Planning.
The 2017 ERNIE WILSON, JR. MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is available to all NJ graduating Sons of The American Legion members in good standing, whose squadrons are also in good standing with the Detachment of NJ. Applications for the scholarship must be submitted completed in full, along with the entire contents of documents needed for review, by the deadline of April 15, 2017. Incomplete application packages and those received after the deadline will not be considered. Applications can be obtained in a number of ways: you can go through your school's Guidance Department, ask a Detachment Officer for a copy, or by going to the forms page of our website.
This Award has been going on strong for several years now and we need to strive for the success of this program and others in the American Legion. Good Luck to all that apply and don't forget to also apply for the American Legion scholarship. They have their own application that would need to be filled out so you will have to obtain their application as well.
***You should not wait for the deadline to submit your application to ensure that it gets received by the deadline.***
***Please pay close attention to all the rules and regulations stated in the application as these will be strictly enforced by the Scholarship Committee.***
The award will be presented at the American Legion Convention in June at the Detachment of NJ meeting.
For God and Country,
Matthew C. Thalasinos
Scholarship Committee Chairman
